The Sea

of Winds

“There are two ways to cross the desert.”

“Either you set sail on the Tar-Dha, or you join a caravan. Either way, it may cost you your life.”

Between the two ends of the Salthras Mountains lies the Sea of Winds, which is the only connection between the two halves of Thraen.

The Sea of Winds is not a sea, but the largest desert in Thraen. It derives its name from the constant winds that blow, mostly from darkness toward light. The Sea of Winds is notorious for its often sudden, unpredictable sandstorms, which can sometimes last for days.

“The Gate to Salthras.” This is where the desperate gather — those who have undertaken and survived the long march towards the Skybridge.

“The Silence of the Dead.” The region around the bend of the Dark Tar-Dha is the most dangerous area for caravans and riverboatmen alike.

Thraen’s only river. It rises in the Salthras Mountains at the tail of Salthras, flows through the Sea of Winds and the Great Plains, and empties into the Tarranian Sea via its massive river delta.

On the way to Darinth, the small town near the head of Salthras is the last safe haven before the long journey through the Toloth Selin.
